From the Chairman’s desk

As evidenced by the technological developments taking place at a rapid pace, there is growing awareness and realization that automation holds the key to creating an environment conducive to industrial growth. Such acceptance of the change would result in generating more jobs which in turn would lead to improved productivity, especially of small and medium enterprises.

“More emphasis should be laid on cost and quality in manufacturing. Steps should be initiated to start customized and recognized training programmes fulfilling the needs of the specific sector. Stress should be given for more interaction between academia and industry.”

The above need for training is also supported by findings of various research studies that:

  1. There is an established link between good staff training and successful industry/ business.
  2. High performing industry are twice as likely to train their employees, as low performing industry (Source : “Adult Training in Britain” , HMSO)..

The emergence of Industrial Automation Training Centre (IATC) is the outcome of this dire need to feed the industry with trained technical manpower, train and retrain the professionals already working in the industry. Not to shirk its societal obligations, the Centre has on its agenda, vocational training programmes to address the requirements of women and disadvantaged strata of society. In its endeavour, the Centre has the support and willingness of well acknowledged names of GTZ (German Technical Cooperation) and Siemens Ltd., which in itself is a pointer to quality industrial training.

Their role and contribution in setting up and steering the Centre holds out an optimistic future for those trained at the Centre – where “Quality is a Way of Life”.
